Because we\u2019ve seen firsthand how small acts can make a big difference. The Power of One mentality has never been more important than when it comes to your vote. Recent history has shown us that winning margins can be tight, and a series of narrow wins or losses can swing election outcomes\u2014important outcomes like the balance of power in Congress, where laws are made that affect your daily life. Education, healthcare, the economy, environmental protection\u2014they can all be profoundly affected by your one vote.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 2016 presidential election, six states were won by less than 2 percent margin\u2014in New Hampshire, that was only 2,701 votes. In the Senate many races were tight too, including wins by just 1.4 percent in Pennsylvania and 0.14 percent in New Hampshire. And elections aren\u2019t only national, they\u2019re local. Voters in your town will decide on ballot measures that directly affect you, like taxes, workers\u2019 rights, and infrastructure improvements.<\/span><\/p>\n

Make a plan to vote<\/b><\/h3>\n

This year, with the COVID-19 pandemic, it\u2019s important to make a plan on how to vote safely. The good news is there are more options than ever for casting your ballot, and they vary depending on where you live. You may be able to vote early by mail or in person at an early voting location.<\/span><\/p>\n

Step one is to register to vote\u2014or if you think you\u2019re registered, or to check your voter registration status. There are many great resources online to help you get started, like <\/span>vote.org<\/span><\/a>. Depending on your state, you can also request an absentee ballot or find your designated polling place.<\/span><\/p>\n

If you\u2019re voting in person, plan to protect yourself by wearing a mask, keeping safe spacing from others, and washing or sanitizing your hands often. If you\u2019re voting by mail, plan to vote early.
